A personal message from Peter Seidl

In 1987, I opened the doors of Fiorino with great passion. What began as a dream became a significant part of my life – and, I hope, a cherished part of yours as well. Over all these years, it has been our pleasure to cook for you, raise a glass with you, and welcome you to my restaurant.

However, the past few years have been extremely challenging for the hospitality industry in general – and for Fiorino in particular. I would like to explain why, with a heavy heart, I have made the difficult decision to close.

The COVID pandemic fundamentally changed the way people dine out, and the recovery we had hoped for never truly materialized. Then came the war in Ukraine, sending food prices and energy costs soaring. I was faced with an impossible choice: either pass these increased costs on to my guests or absorb them myself. I chose to absorb most of them. Since then, running the restaurant on a sound economic basis has become virtually impossible.

The reconstruction of Praterstraße in 2023 and 2024 dealt us another severe blow. Our outdoor terrace, which had brought us so many wonderful summer evenings, was heavily affected for an extended period. At the same time, labour costs increased by almost 20 percent within just two years, and our rent also rose significantly. Most recently, the situation in the Middle East led to a noticeable decline in customer confidence and restaurant visits. These were all developments entirely beyond my control.

June 28, 2026, will be our final day. With mixed emotions, I will open the doors of Fiorino one last time that day.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my loyal staff. And to you, our guests, thank you for 38 years of loyalty, trust, and countless unforgettable moments.
